I was a bit torn whether the Green Star should be counted as a pub or a live music venue. It's a two-room pub with a large bar, plenty of parking and a good sized smoking area that you can take drinks out to (always a bonus). During the day, it's pretty standard pub fare - large screen TV, pool, quiz machines and such. The second room hosts a large and well-equipped stage, which has hosted some excellent bands in its time (Rock Of Ages, Beardsmith, Thunderstruck and The Bon Jovi Experience to name a few). They have a good drinks range on, including alcohol free beers most of the time.

The main downside to the stage is that it isn't much higher than floor level - if its packed and you're at the back, you're going to have problems seeing. That said, they've gone some way to fixing this with a raised seating area towards the back, and if you really want to see, you can usually find your way to the front, so it's not a massive problem.
